About Ulmer’s

Ulmer’s began in 1954, when Alaska was still a territory. After Eldon Ulmer founded the original drug store, his son Scott expanded the business into hardware and sporting goods. In 1977, Ulmer’s arrived at the Lakeside Mall in Homer—a location that has since grown from a small pharmacy into the cornerstone of the entire mall.

In 2016, the legacy transitioned to its third generation of ownership under Monica Ulmer and her husband, Patrick Mede. While Monica honors the family tradition, Patrick is the dedicated operator of the business, managing the daily hands-on complexities of the store. Together, they continue to serve Alaska families, balancing a fresh perspective with the community commitment that has defined Ulmer’s for over 70 years.

Locally Owned. Locally Operated.

Ulmer’s has been a proud member of the Homer community since opening its doors. We take pride in serving this wonderfully unique and beautiful place we call home.

Our team works hard every day to help friends, neighbors, and visitors find what they need — when they need it.
